Electronic Transfer Payments: Wire & ACH Processing Times

Electronic Transfer Payments: Wire & ACH Processing Times

At RelightDepot.com, we accept payments via electronic transfer, including wire transfers and ACH transfers. These methods are secure and reliable, but the time it takes for funds to arrive in our account can vary depending on the payment type and the bank’s processing schedule. Because we do not process orders until payment has cleared, it’s important to understand the typical timelines for each method so you can plan your project accordingly.

Domestic Wire Transfers

  • Typical clearing time: Same business day if sent before your bank’s cutoff (often 3–5 PM ET) or next business day if sent after.

  • Details: Funds are sent directly from your bank to ours through Fedwire or a similar network.

  • Things to note: Some banks offer “real-time” or instant wires for an extra fee. If your bank uses an intermediary, the transfer may not post until the next business day. Wire transfers are generally final and cannot be reversed easily.

Domestic wires are a good choice for urgent orders where you need materials released as quickly as possible. To ensure same-day credit, we recommend confirming your bank’s wire cutoff time before sending payment.

International Wire Transfers

  • Typical clearing time: 1–5 business days.

  • Details: International wires are routed through one or more intermediary banks and may require currency conversion.

  • Things to note: Processing time depends on the sending bank, the currency involved, and the number of intermediary banks. Additional fees may be charged by intermediary banks.

If you are placing an order from outside the United States, we suggest initiating payment as soon as possible to account for potential delays.

ACH Transfers (Automated Clearing House)

Standard ACH:

  • Typical clearing time: 1–3 business days.

  • Details: Funds move through the ACH network in daily batches, usually processed overnight.

Same-Day ACH:

  • Typical clearing time: Same business day if sent before your bank’s cutoff (often late morning or early afternoon).

ACH payments are cost-effective and work well for orders that do not require immediate release. Keep in mind that ACH payments can be reversed for a limited time in the case of an error or dispute. Weekends and federal holidays will delay processing for both standard and same-day ACH.

Bank Processing Cutoff Times

Even if you send a payment “today,” the posting date depends on when you send it relative to your bank’s processing deadline. Typical cutoffs are:

  • Wires: 3–5 PM ET

  • Same-Day ACH: Late morning to early afternoon

  • Standard ACH: Batched in the evening for next-day or second-day delivery

If your transfer is submitted after your bank’s cutoff time, it will be processed on the next business day.

How This Affects Order Processing

We release orders only after payment is confirmed in our account. Here’s an example of how timing works:

*Ship timing also depends on product availability and vendor lead times.

Tips to Avoid Delays

  • Ask your bank about cutoff times before sending payment.

  • Include your order or quote number in the payment memo to help us match your payment quickly.

  • Send us the transfer confirmation so we can watch for it to post.

  • Plan around weekends and holidays when banks do not process payments.

If you have questions about sending an electronic transfer or need our banking details, contact our sales team at (888) 548-6387 or email sales@relightdepot.com. We’re here to help ensure your payment and order move smoothly.
